Aerial replacement
« on: 29 March 2007, 14:56:22 »

When i bought my car it had no aerial, and i want to replace it, however i dont know what is missing or if i need to re-thread the thing thats left...

Hopefully this pic will explain what i'm asking.....

When i unscrewed **B,**  the whole lot fell into the roof and was a pain to get back out, so do i need to drill **A** out (assuming a new aerial will have the "male" end of the aerial) and screw the new one into the old hole?

I'm guessing that **A** is the remains of the old thread and has been snapped off.

I'd like to replace with a shark fin, or the standard Mega one (Short black stuby type)

And now having done some research, Is it my FM aerial or phone one? My reception seems quite lame, although better since putting my Kenwood Head Unit in there.

I've got no extra lines down the back window or anything to give the idea that there's another aerial for the radio reception.

is it a saloon?  If so, aerial is part of heated rear window. The roof stubby thing is for cellular...

Yup its a saloon. So i'll just go and buy myself a cheapy shark fin then to cover up that mess on the roof!

So if the rear window is the fm aerial, i take it there would be some kind of booster box?
