Oder of washers on oil cooler
« on: 31 March 2007, 09:56:20 »

Can anyone confirm......

I have bolts to reassemble ( go on to oil cooler pipes running from block into cooler)

Need to know what order the black rubber "o" ring and metal "o" ring go on or if it actually matters - i expect it does.

I presume one goes on the bolt first then the oil pipe goes on then the final washer.... :-/

Will post a picture shortly - after coffee  ::) -  to see if any one can assist..

I havent seen the setup on a 2.6...

However on the 2.5 the rubber O-rings go into a groove at the base of the threaded union on the oil cooler...then a large nut that bolts the cover on top of the cooler.

Then there are two metal washers where one fits either side of the cooler pipe to seal the banjo bolt that secures the pipe fitting to the cooler.

As washers with rubber in...they are used on the coolant bridge on the 2.5

Sorry if this is no good but as I saod...not seen a 2.6 engine naked

Note....follow the torque and angle tightening for the banjo bolts......and they are hollow emtal items....no rubebr on the oil cooler to pipe washers.....the ones with rubber in them are on the coolant bridge.
