Running Temp
« on: 10 April 2007, 14:27:51 »

Can anyone tell me what is the normal running temp for the v6 omega. My Reflection is running at about 100 round town and I'm certain that she used to run about 90 and I hear the fan more often, I also have to top up the header tank more regularly (am I in deep doodoo?)

Cheers in advance  :(

Normal running temp for the V6 is about 95 iirc.. I wonder it might be the thermostat or something?  If its stuck closed it over pressurises and forces coolant out of places it shouldn't be.. Stuck open usually makes the engine run colder, and give you no heating - as mine is at the moment..

92.5 is normal, creeping up to 95, and the fan should bring it back to 92.5...

93 ish normal, up to 96 before fans bring back down.

100 is excessive.  Flush the coolant a few times as a minimum.

Mine goes up to (almost) 100 in town, then down to 90, and up again... fans cutting-in etc. And I am using fresh Vx Red antifreeze... My previous Omega did the same... so my experience seems different than others here.

However - constant lose of coolant isn't good news - could be a minor hose leak, or the Heater Bypass Valve at the back of the engine, and worst of all an oil cooler failure... this needs to be investigated.

If after finding and fixing the leak, proper flushing, and refilling with Red antifreeze it still goes up to 100, I would leave it at that...
