heater running full blast

the heater motor is at full belt the only way to stop it is to yank out the fuse,i've had a look around the forum and everything points to the resistor so i took it out [b$stard of a job].anyone know a: what they cost and b:if it's not the resistor then what else it could be........................cheers.

Climate or non climate?

Is the scuttle drain blocked (or been blocked)?  Passenger carpets dry?

no blockages past or present the previous owner is a workmate so i know the car was looked after.though it was bl@@dy manky,took me three days to get it looking ok.    sorry i'm off to the pub   will check back with you later     hic ;D

Does sound like speed controller failure, which happens when it gets wet. :(

Yes, the speed controller has got wet.......is the scuttle drain clear....

Try for a second hand one......no more than 20 quid mind....

When this happened to mine, I found it possible, noy easy, to dismantle the controller & replace the shorted power mosfet. Near the connector is a narrow strip which can be prised off revealing soldered joints. With these released it was possible to remove the circuitry from the heat sink fins.

Inside are three power mosfets soldered onto a heatsink, one is probably shorted and a suitable replacement from RS Components was around £3.

Failure seemed to be caused by poor soldering to the heatsink so poor heat transfer.

This was around four years ago so relying on my memory, but I can probably dig out part number if you are confident to try.

speed controler, is that the resistor,the thing with the alloy fins as thats the devil i've taken out.

£55.00 plus vat from main dealer so i'm off to the breakers,great way to spend the day in 80 degrees.
