Spring availability
« on: 20 April 2007, 13:05:32 »

So far I have changed the wishbones and shocks, standard self levelling rear and Monroe front, but I still feel there is too much roll at low speeds.

The shocks are all okay so it looks like the springs could be the next target area as they have done 45k and so may be weakening.

On checking the Irmscher website it says that lowering springs are not suitable for self levelling and HID use which I guess is due to the level sensors being out of sync with the height of the car once fitted.

I would prefer to leave the height as standard and I know I can get uprated rear springs in standard length as they are designed for towing but has anyone come across an option for the fronts? Does the police specification heavy duty suspension have uprated springs and can they be purchased from Vauxhall as a standard item?

Any info appreciated.

Police spec is based on MV 6 so will be lowered - not sure how this will work with the self levelling HIDs, though MV6 could be had with them so there must be a solution.

On another note, 45k for springs to go mooshy is not normal... have you checked your tyre pressure? You could try firming-up the ride a bit by upping the tyre pressure from the recommended 31 psi to 33-34 psi (I do this regularly).

Mark,

They have not failed as such I just want the handling a bit tighter. The tyre pressures have nothing to do with the roll as I have the pressure up regularly for towing plus with 45 profiles there is little to be gained anyway.

Past looks at this indicated that the springs for the MV6 are the same as the 3.0 elites and all the diesels but have shorter struts and shock to give the 15mm drop although this may be wrong.
