It's a pressure reducer which is the final stage before the gas hits the injectors.  There should (if like mine) be a solenoid built into the reducer and if 12v is applied to the solenoid it'll switch the gas on, but if the 12v is dropped - ie: ignition switched off, then the gas supply is stopped.  There is also a solenoid on the tank too. Both of these make LPG much safer in the event of an accident!

Hey has anyone got a good LPG diagram at all?  it's be good to refer back to a diagram for this!  I don't have one to hand as it's all in my head and i can't be arsed firing up Visio...

It sounds a bit like mine.....misses badly when first changing to lpg on low revs.....rev it and its ok....im suspecting the coil pack on mine not giving a good enough spark or dis pack in your case

Been there, done that!  I had this problem at 150k and was fixed with a £30 set of HT leads from Halfrauds.  Think your HT setup is different on a 2.2 though...???

Yep no leads on mine......so carnt be that.

so does that mean its not likely to be that then?  (the pressure solenoid)

I also forgot to mention that it only happens when cold (or left for a minimum of about 4 hrs)
Once warmed up the changeover to gas is smooth. It seems as if it is maybe changing over to gas a bit too soon when the engine is started from cold.

thanks,   stu

I also have another quick question regarding the lpg system

Are the matrix pipes the best way to feed hot water to the vaporizer?
When first fitted, it was fine while the heaters were on hot, but come summer, with heaters on cold, this was cutting off the hot water supply

The vacuum on the HBV had to be blocked off to solve this - does this cause any problems, or is it the best solution?

Thanks

There is a doctored photo somewhere with the best connections on, if it doesn't reappear I'll post tonight

It's been incorrectly plumbed. The HBV has one inlet and two outlets  -- one to the matrix and another bypasses it and goes straight back to the block. So yours is obviously plumbed into the pipe that goes to the matrix, which is cut off by the HBV when the heater is off. The correct pipe to plumb into is the inlet going into the HBV, as this will always have a flow of hot water regardless of the position of the HBV.

The picture Martin is going to post will show where to connect it to, it will become clear then. Should be an easy fix, albeit a bit of a pain for accessibility.

Thanks for your help

If you can post the pics, then that would be great....thanks

So what is the most likely cause of the sluggish changeover in your opinions?
Also, is it possible to get the guage working again?

thanks,
