Thermostat Opening
« on: 10 May 2007, 15:37:25 »

Hi! I would like to know if there are other thermostat units that can fit my x25xe (omega-b) which opens at a lower temp? Our problem here is overheating since we have a tropical weather. Thanks!

Possibly, although I don't think it will stop it overheating.  I think you may have another issue.

I feel for you, I have similar problems with one of mine :(

I agree with TB.....it doesnt matter how hot the weather is within reason......the thermostat will just open sooner if a hotter climate....as engine will heat up faster.....assuming your thermostat is opening of course (which you would know about as it would overheat all the time)....then you have a cooling problem.....is your cooling rad fan coming on max speed? Mine has only come on max speed a few times and thats when the outside temp was around 30C

If it does.....then as TB says....you may have other issues with the cooling

Best to give it a flush and some fresh coolant and see if that improves it.

Check the coolant pump while you're at it. Maybe the impeller is falling apart.

Under what conditions is it overheating? In traffic? Cruising? High speed running? Ascending hills?

Does it seriously overheat (i.e. boil the coolant?) or is the gauge just a bit higher than normal?
