Where is my Temp gauge sender unit??????
« on: 17 May 2007, 07:35:33 »

Hi to all :D
I have got a 2001 Omega 2.6 V6 elite auto, estate it has got the Y26SE engine in it. My problem is my Temperature gauge don`t work, my cooling fans work as they should. I am use to the X25XE and have a haynes book for that engine. So is my temp gauge sender unit in the same place on my new engine?
Also am I wrong to think that the sender unit is wrong first?
                                                     Cheers

Yes it is in the same place...

And as usual the fault can be either the sender, the gauge, or the wiring between the two...

In order to get to the sender though you'll need to remove the plenum, intake manifold, and intake flange....

Cheers for that, my wife and I will go and strip it down, when the rain stops.

I dash that isn't correctly seated can do it as well, but most likely the wire is off the sender...

It's usually in the form of a spade connector on the coolant bridge, under the plenum. First job is check the dash is seated correctly (It can look OK, when it's not)...

Second job, pop the plenum etc off.. and see if the spade connector is on the sender, and make sure the wire is intact as far back to the loom as you can

While you're there, check all your other electrical connections and all earths are secure.
