Crank seal replacement?
« on: 24 June 2007, 21:12:15 »

Looks like I'm going to have to tackle this. I have PMd mark, but here are a few questions:

how do I lock the crank in place, to undo the pulley bolt?

Do I  need to remove / refit the pulley in any order - don't want to mess up the timing!!

It's a manual so stick it in a high gear and pull the hand brake on hard.

Tippex the crank and pullies as you go.

Could also fabricate a metal plate / strip that will bolt onto a couple of the holes where the aux belt pulley attaches, and on to a couple of convenient bolts on the block to lock it in place.

Mate of mine used to swear by the "put a big breaker bar in it, brace it against the ground and turn the engine over on the starter" method  :o :o :o

I DID think about getting something on where the aux belt pulley bolts go..

But that engine won't be cranked on the starter until it's all back together ;D
