Engine and gearbox have separate ECUs so if they are proposing to upgrade just the engine one it won't help.

.. for that money I'd wait until you cross paths with TheBoy!

I had EXACTLY the same reply from my local Vauxhall dealer (Walkers of Worksop) after speaking to a 'technician' did not know what I was talking about and said 'are you having problems with it' which I replied 'well no but..' to which he replied 'well, we take the line if it ain't broke don't fix it' although he did say that IF an upgrade was available they would do it for an hour's labour charge (an upgrade for both ECU's) for £50 + VAT.  This did not inspire me with much confidence!

I will go and see 'The Boy' I think....... ;)

Smart move  :y  ;)

TheBoy did my auto box in December and even the wife commented that the car was shifting much smoother!

The engine ECU however is probably not worth doing on its own since there is no noticeable difference, but if you are going to see TheBoy anyway then I guess you might as well get all the ECUs updated.
