breather pipe snapped

hi again all,
was taking breather pipes off my 2.0 16v cdx when one snapped. its the small one on the left hand side. is this one needed? can i still drive the car with it snapped?

please help

Did you snap the pipe or the cam cover.....

If just the pipe, can you cut the knackeed bit off and still get it to reach.

Yes it is needed, the small one allows the crank case to breath at idle and the large one when throttle is open.

managed to re sttach the pipe.

just waiting for my camshaft sensor to turn up!!!!

To change the cam sensor, you need to pop the cam cover off and remove the black ecotec strip from the cam cover.

In between the two cam sprockets you will see a bolt, remove this, the cam sensor can then be pulled up through the cam cover....

The bolt between cams sprockets is high up, not the 'spacer' below. I've seen someone do this one by mistake, haven't I Tunnie ;)

lol

i had it apart other day to clean cam sensor. only thing is i don't have tork sockets. so using normal sockets. what a pain.

Get a torx rail mate, cheap enough at machine mart, and will prevent you rounding off any bolt heads..

My comment was aimed at JamesV6CDX who still has my torx rail from January  :o  ;D

They are cheap enough, treat yourself, as they are used all over modern cars....
