LOL, probably not done a proper service then.

The fuel filter is under car, just forward of fuel tank on petrol models...

..and plugs are NOT part of the routine service - they only need doing every 40k/4y, so chances are that this whole 'service' things didn't actually happen...

I think the general theme here is give it a good service first, oil + filter, air filter, fuel filter, then see what you come up with...

And at this mileage not a bad idea to do the autobox ATF and filter while you're at it.

I would also mention coolant and brake fluid change, but I am digressing...

Other general culprits are plugs, HT leads, DIS pack.....
