Where does this pipe go 2.0DOHC?
« on: 14 July 2007, 10:50:16 »

I just know this came up recently but can't find the thread. >:(

There is a white vacuum pipe that goes off the rear of the intake just below the throttle body.   This then goes around the back and from its length must connect somewhere in the area of the DIS pack.  But mine is not connected to anything.

Cant see how this would cause misfire on no.1 which is what took me to that area (removing DIS pack),  but I'd like to correct it before going to the trouble and cost of changing the dis unit.

Can someone with a 2.0 have a look please?

Cheers,

Ian

I have included this pic, mine goes here.....

It comes from the rear of the Throttle body, the bottom section, round the back, then onto here, just to the right of the dis pack.

Hope this helps.. Something to do with the emisions.

Thanks Mark.

Just got back from a  closer look and mine used to be there but has broken off just where the green dot is on yours.  No idea when - could have been ages ago, and indeed could be the leak that caused my uneven idle a while ago.

Can anyone confirm what the device is that it connects to?  seems to have a number of vac type pipes off if and a funny 2" long pipe with a mushroom shaped sensor? at the end.  and an adjusting screw on top covered in yellow paint.

I will try but not sure if its realistic to superglue it back.

When my missus had a Frontera thie pipe snapped off hers, it caused the EML light to intermitently come on, the mechanis said it was to do with the return off unspent gasses going back to the manifold, called it an egr valve or summit like that, any way, i fixed mine with some silicone around it, worked a treat, they wanted £95 for one....

Ah - so its the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation - as you describe) valve. Always wondered where it was on the 2.0. :y

Q. is am I better off blocking the white pipe to eliminate the air leak,  or trying to glue it back on?

To be honest i dont know, I would assume fixing it would be good...

When my old one was blocked off, the eml light came on at 60-70mph, then went off again when under them speeds, when i fixed it, had no problems.
