Ok, need some help urgently
« on: 27 July 2007, 12:45:12 »

Got a t reg omega 2.5V6 as a practical car to ferry my 2 boxers around, load lug etc etc. However, since this rain started i came down to my car about 7 days ago to find the passenger footwell full of water. Checked the obvious, windows closed, sunroof closed no signs of a source. I cleaned out the water and parked it up again. Same thing happened the next day. This time i could see a little waterfall coming from underneath the glove box as i went round a corner( it was a cul-de sac) so it wasnt at speed and my eyes were on the road. In any case i undid 3 plastic bolts from the trim under the glove box in the passenger footwell and found when the trim came off the sponge was soaked. I left it undone and low and behold as its rained some more the water has returned. I am assuming that this is something to do with the aircon as when i turn that on to heat the footwell carpets it makes  horrible sound as if the airflow is disturbed.

Does anyone know what this piece of trim is for and the reason for the sponge and what should i be looking to do to stop this returning if i can do anything at all. Is this a job for a garage. Any help appreciated seeing as there appears to be no let up with the rain.

Welcome to site :)

Your scuttle drain is blocked ;)

Open bonnet. On passenger side, at very back near windscreen, is a plastic flap. Lift this, and you will see the pollen filter, and a well below (and I bet well is full of water!). At bottom of this well, below a bit of loom, should be a rubber drain hole. This needs cleaning out.

Also, you'll need a new pollen filter.

hope you have small hands ;)

On ones that drain into wheelarch, sometimes easier to attack unblocking from within wheelarch.

Woohoo, cheers guys for your help ;), i didnt have hands small enough but managed to use a screw driver to get under the loom and push the gunk through.Managed to release about 5ins of water

A further question did you know this from experience, is this is a recurring problem because it seems it would be easy for this thing to recur. Is that the case

Me!  Have has, hopefully never will, as I check mine every time I open the bonnet, and usually put a jugful of water through as well....
