rear spring broke
« on: 21 July 2007, 14:58:44 »

checking car before 4 wheel alignment reveals broken rear spring . :-/ :-/ :-/ :-/
Decided to change both and as rear springs  look original at 155K miles thought they ma need changing.

Sourced a pair of springs - SUPLEX manufactured in Germany
 and
KYB gas adjust shockers (need gas adjust as they stop the suspension bottoming too much when carrying a heavy/full load or towing At the moment I use rubber inserts in the springs - shouldn't need those now  )
Total bill would be shade under £130 delivered.
Is this a fair price? anyone any experience / knowledge on SUPLEX  or KYB?

Price is retty good.

I have used KYB springs and have heard good things about the shocks to.

Not heard of Suplex though.

There is a maintenance guide for spring change and doing the shocks at the same time is easy enough.

:yParts fitted today - delay because 1st set of springs sent didn't match - but no problem changing them for a matched pair excellent suppliers.
Springs and shockers fitted by www.asautocare.co.uk today for a good price took just over 30 mins to fit  shocks and springs to both sides
Car now runs straight and the handling difference is phenominal ride is smooth and stable- didn't realise how bad it was until shocks and sprins changed.
Shockers keep the car level (nearly - drops 0.5cm) when caravan is hitched on back and they damp any oscillation instantly . Also car still level with 3 adults and loads of luggage in back used to aim for the sky when fully loaded  KYB gas-a-just  shockers - brilliant

As the back is now superb will have to think about the front strut and springs
