hi all do i tighten the wishbone main bolts with the car on the stands or when its on the floor i cant remeber ive seen a post on here before but cant find it

Hi, tighten with the weight of the car on the wheels, if you have ramps it will make it easier.

Basically don't tighten the bolts with the wheels hanging down. Otherwise you'll clamp the bush so it's under strain when the car's resting on its wheels. Then when the suspension compresses the bush tears.

Haynes says to tighten the horiztonal bush with the suspension arm horizontal - I find you need the play to get the hub on, then once the hub's on it's not horizontal...

With the wheels on the ground it's jolly hard to get the nut torqued up so for a proper job do it up good and tight with the wheels on the ground then jack up again and torque up fully.
