speedo no worky

hello newbie here have just aquired a 2.5 v6 estate it had a speedo problem so i bought a replacement from a very nice chap on e bay fitted it today but to no avail it still won't move any ideas please many  thanks in anticipation

Have you checked the fuse's? It might be something you wouldn't check so you don't think of it.

 ;) had the same myself. Methodically check each and every fuse!  Something I didn't :-[ Good luck :y

Might be something more sinister like an ABS ECU problem. What year is your car? ( might be handy putting that and auto/manual in your personal details in the unlikely event of having any future questions!). Does it have cruise control and if so does it work?  Do you get the normal range of lights greeting you and then going off on the dashboard when you start up?

Wouldn't the ABS and TC light be on if that was the case? Best think of the simple things like fuses before going into the excessive technical problems.
