Hi guys

Anyone got a part number and a price for a brand new GM Aux belt tensioner pulley only for a V6?

Aux Pulley Part number for my V6 is 9157962 price was £20.26

Is the aux belt tensioner the round wheel?

If so mine moves when i blip the throttle. Is this dangerous? , if so is it likely to snap the cambelt?

It's the top left pulley as you face the engine. It's probably normal for it to move a little as the belt accelerates and decelerates. Never really looked myself as I have drive by wire and I'm not a contortionist!

It's on a spring and applies a constant tension to the belt. It's also nowhere near the cam belt, because that's under the plastic cam belt cover, although the cam belt is tensioned by a spring tensioner following the same principle.

Mine musnt have a cambelt cover then as i can clearly see the cambelt below

There should be a black plastic cover that runs over the camshaft sprockets on both banks and down behind the  front crankshaft pulley and waterpump pulley, thus covering the whole run of the cam belt. The aux. belt then sits in front of the cover so that's the only belt you should be able to see without dismantling.

Actually mine does have a camcover. I am thinking of the auxbelt , it has a few wheels doesnt it. So if that did snap what would happen?

Nothing too drastic. Alternator, power steering and water pump would stop, so you'd get the battery warning light and the steering would get very heavy, and if you didn't stop immediately it'd overheat.

So, if you realise what's happening and stop, no damage but a stranded car.

I have noticed actually over the last 2 weeks that only intermittently the power steering will go a little heavy (most of the time first thing in the morning when trying to pull off and turn my wheel right to get on the road)

Could it be the auxbelt tensioner?

The part number i dont have or price, but without a TC, £50.00 + VAT.

A new guy is working in the parts department, so i have some blaging to do.

What is the part number for a 3ltr 1997 please, so i can check when i pick mine up?

Reason for asking, when checking my A-belt part no, i had been given 1 for a 2.0 and not for my 3 ltr.

50 +Vat is the price for the whole tensioner assembly, you can buy the pulley on its own for about 20ish +Vat

Your aux belt is part number 93181720 at 18+vat trade club.

Not knowing i can by just the Pulley, i ended up with the whole thing.  

Just in case, Part no 9202550 for Whole Tensioner Assembly.

£50.00 + VAT = £58.75

With Trad Card £45.03 + VAT = £52.92,  £4.97 Discount.

Belt, Part no 93181720.

£29.00 + VAT = £34.10.

Wtih Trade Card £17.50 + VAT = £20.57, £11.50 Discount.
