help drive 2000 plate 2.5 petrol engine warning on has been code read and comes up code 33

do you know if part needs replacing if so what car runs ok when warm slight missfire when cold

Check around the EGR (the bit just to left of plenum) for signs of soot. If you see soot, its leaking, but you can just blank it off...

thanks will check is there a how 2 anywhere about blanking off egr just bought car was very cheap just needs bit of tidying up

No how2, but simply unbolt top of egr valve, cut up an old coke tin to fit, then bolt back down....

checked egr looked very clean no soot anything else to look at someone said maybe inlet manifold solanoid

Soot wont give a tell tail indication for this.....its down to the valve stiking and the ECU getting in-correct position information.

Take the valve off (two torx bolts) and clean it out well (paint stripper is best).

Also check the wiring loom for damage.

changed oil today when i removed undertray i found a wire hanging down re connected it and bingo fault light has gone off this was on intake so hope problem solved have done 200 miles car runs great hope any future problems are so cheap to fix. just got noise from i think rear brakes to deal with now
