Hod on, you set to 27?, the interior is trying to cook itself so lots of hot air and interior temperature rising. Then you set it to 22, it now has to cool the interior, cold air from the vents until the interior temperature drops. Small steps and see if it settles.

As well as the fan working, ensure the sensor is not touching anything (have to dismantle to check).

Is it a facelift, or prefacelift?

It's a pre-facelift  :)

Initially he set the temp to "Hi" and then after a bit he wanted to just have the cabin warm and so dropped it to 27 and it started to blow cold rather than the warm air he thought it would.
He thought it shouldn't blow cold air until it was down to around 22

It'll do whatever is necessary to get the cabin to the temp you select, be that blow cold air or hot.... however low will just blow cold air continuously and high will blow hot air continuously.

prefacelift mv6 (being either a 98 or 99 year) does not benefit from a climate upgrade

Dont want to start a new topic so ill ask here:
1) Does 2002 Omega 2,5 DTI will benefit from c/c upgrade?
2) Same about engine and gear box ECU (it has 5 speed auto gear box)

1) Yes
2) Not sure, we didn't get the 5 speed box here, so never done one.

I find the climate control on the facelifts really queer, without the 'upgrade', if changing temp the system tries to alter the climate as fast as it can so perhaps would result in cold air being blown to equalise! I do gather the revised software makes the system more 'discreet' which can only be a good thing!

Boldy, I think Mr DTM maybe a little too far away from you, I suppose see what the local dealership say, unless of course you are arranging a 'tech 2 holiday' :)

I fixed the faulty fan on my (pre-facelift) climate at the weekend using a 1inch 12V computer fan.....it now works very well.
