coolant loss
« on: 17 November 2007, 22:00:36 »

Hi guys please help
Just found big puddle under car and on the road outside the house, lifted the bonnet to find header tank cap loose.
Now could this be the symptom of a big problem or just me being a numpty and not tightening the cap?

i've not been under the bonnet for 3 weeks and the car has been running great.
with the loss the display says coolant level, easy fix, but the check light has come on will this go off when level is topped up or does it need tech 2?
thanks in advance

Vauxhall would really be rubbing their hands with glee if it needed TechII to clear low coolant message!  ;D
Just fill the header tank up (with of course the correct mix of anti-freeze ;)) and the message will disappear.  :y  :y  :y

A loose cap will depressurise the system so it's quite likely that it would also cause "after-boiling" once the engine has been stopped so that probably explains your puddle and lack of coolant.
