Starting from warm problem....
« on: 05 January 2008, 19:21:59 »

Very occasionally after driving, I'll stop the engine, try to restart, it just turns over.. as flooded...  If I floor the throttle it'll start straight away (Switch the injectors off start)...   Also, I have a slight misfire on tick over.. no acceleration problem at all, infact since changing the plugs it's rapid.... ICV is spotless too..  No vac leaks....

Any suggestions.... :-/

The starting does sound a bit like a leaky injector...

Wondered if I'd got an O2 sensor going down..  any logic to that?

From what I gather from the net average life for lambda sensor

is around 100,000 Km.. :-/

But I see many cars around using them more than 100 K miles :-?

Lambda sensors won't come into the equation until the engine is running stably and they have warmed up so you can eliminate that.

Does it start after a crank with the throttle on the floor? EDIT: Just read the original post properly ::). In that case a leaky injector sounds likely. Could also be a fault coolant temp. Sensor not cutting the enrichment when warm.

No codes present indicating a crank sensor problem? This is how mine went.

Like the coolant temp idea..  do you think that that would give me an uneven tickover?

Possibly. It will be running rich since the warmup enrichment will still be active.

Will I get a paper clip code for temp sensor, or, is it a live scan that'll spot it...?

Live scan idealy....that way the temp of the ECU coolant sensor can be compared with that of the instruments one.

Only remember the instrument one is 'modified' (even at live data level) to be heavily damped and not to scare the driver ;)
