cam seal gasket...running rough, oil on plugs,

cam seal gaskets....my omega 2.0 '99' est has been running rought for a while now (no power under acceration, missing under load. Checked the plug leads and they were coated with oil as were the plugs,now, ive ben told by u lads that know, that poss cam seal gaskets have gone...i checked the 'thick' breather hose and it was packed with gunk..im not that brill at diy but ill give it a go..just need to kno how long its gonna take an amateur to replace the gasket..or should i leave it to a pro..thks..

I'm a complete amateur and it took me about 4 hours inc cleaning up the rocker cover, breathers and throttle body  :y

it's a lot easier to do the gasket on the 2 ltr, i had to do mine on my astra sport and it took me about 2 hours in all.

i clean my breathers on sunday it took me 2hours still to do the gasket thou not looking forword to it :y ,any one no the how to for gasket cover ?

If the large breather is blocked, I would suggest that the small
breather jet is blocked. Take a read of the following link and do
a suction test on the small breather hose.

No point in replacing the gasket until you're sure the breathers
are clear. Otherwise it will probably blow and leak again, undoing
all your good work.

Once sure, replace the gasket and consider replacing
your plugs and leads. The leads, after being cooked in hot oil,
might go well with a bit of battered cod, but won't be much good
at electron flow.   :)

The breather hoses are only a few quid so if they are bad (they can get like putty) it may well just be worth replacing them.
