I can only think that i'm gonna have to smash the barrel out with a hammer/screwdriver and then source a second hand barrel & key.  Do the 95 omegas have an immobiliser in the key?

Thanks

DO NOT try and smash the barrel out mate. That could be messy.

Instead, you will see the heads of two shear bolts, that hold on the ignition barrel assembly.

Get a punch, and try and tap these round... if sucesfull, the whole barrel assembly just drops off.

Trust me, I've had this several times ;)

I've spoken to a mechanic friend and he seems to thing he can remove the barrel by drilling  a hole in the housing so i'm gonna let him do that tomorrow!!

What's the idea behind drilling the casing? The existing hole is there to push in a 'latch' on the side of the barrel thereby making the whole barrel roundwhich will allow it all to be withdrawn.
If you're going to drill anywhere, you need to drill down the middle ie where you'd put the key, & then pick the remnants of the tumblers out.

I think this only works if you can turn the key to the first position, as the OP can't turn his key at all the "normal" way of removing the barrel is not an option. Sounds like they are going to try and drill the latch out.

But there's already a hole opposite the latch - Vx put it there ;) - the problem is that the key won't go in to align the tumblers to make the barrel cylindrical, which is what you need to pull the barrel out.

Don't butcher the barrel - worst case is just take the heads off the two shear bolts!  :-/
