Wheels in motion.
« on: 13 October 2007, 18:09:12 »

Good afternoon everone have been up to see tony at wheels in motion today and had a full geometry check and ajustment. Tony did also find a small amount of wear/play in the steering idler arm but said that would not alter any settings that he made today.

He set the car up on the ramp and took the first set of readings and found that the camber was  -1.28 on the drivers side but almost bang on 1.10 on the passenger side so it was looking good. the rear settings were almost bang on as well so there was no ajustments needed on the rear.

Tony made the adustment to the offside front and set it at -1.10/11`and the screen was showing almost the same on both sides. After the ajustments were compleat he printed the final settings and asked me to bring it back as soon as the idler arm had been changed and he would make the final toe in/out ajustments then. There would be no further charge made  for this ajustment and then i have to take it back after 2000 miles to be checked again.  He did also say that if someone had faxed those settings to him he would have said that they were telling porkies as that is too near perfect.
The stting figures that vx give as the norm are only valid on the car if it has just left the factory but as soon as the springs have coverd some miles then those settings are too fluid.
Also the camber if not correct it can lead to premature bearing /hub wear due to incorrect stresses.

All in all a very informative experiance and a real nice guy who knows what he is doing and talking about. I can reccomend him to anyone and worth the fuel and time.

 Regards Gary. :) :) :)
