Sudden loss of power steering
« on: 22 March 2008, 16:31:43 »

Whilst attempting to get out of the extremely overcrowded asda car park this afternoon my omega very suddenly decided to lose every bit of it's power steering with the result that i'm now exhausted from having to heave it round the many roundabouts between asda and my house some several miles away.

Is this a simple case of the power steering pump totally packing up or should I be looking at something simpler first.

If it is the pump is it a relatively straightforward job to replace or am i getting my hands really dirty yet again.

Things were going so well with it up until now too, not had any bother at all since xmas ::)

something very very simple - does your cig lighter and heaters work....ie check the fuse firstly...

Secondly inpspect the aux belt and condition....

I agree, check fuse first. Fuse seems to be most common cause of complete PAS failure...
