Display (mid)
« on: 22 March 2008, 19:11:51 »

What makes the display work.  does it just take all the info from the normal sensors or does it have seperate ones and does it need a different ecu to a car that doent have all the functions.
Ie if i put the display and stalk into a gls will it have the range, temp, cons, ect or does it need to talk to tech 2 to get them to work.

It will have the features that your current TID has.  It will even have one or 2 fuel computer functions. But anything without sensors will not work. And the non stop Oil Lack, Check Coolant, Washer Fluid Level etc warnings will soon piss you off ;D

You can short out some pins so it ignores all the check control stuff.  Not sure how much of the fuel computer functions you'd get...

Well, yes, or you'll get an annoying Automatic Gearbox error.  Probably can ground a pin to overcome, not sure.

people used to upgrade these on the poverty spec vectras 2.2 and below didnt get a mid until the facelift

it was the conclusion that upgrading a tid to a mid is utterly pointless the MID fuel computer functions dont work properly anyway as the injector sensor is missing so it just guesses the info from the speed pulse it doesnt work properly as my mate has one in his GLS 2.0 vectra and it reckons his car is doing 108mpg and idles and 0.1 gal/hr and with the air con on it idles at 4gal/hr

No reason why FC wouldn't work - its probably programmed incorrectly...
