Fuel gauge fault
« on: 26 March 2008, 08:42:34 »

I drove from Port Talbot to Sheffield and still had a full tank, and the computer reckoned I had about 380 miles left in the tank! For some reason I didn't quite believe it.

On starting the next morning the tank had about 20 litres left in it. This seems to happen regularly. I fill up and and the needle then sticks until I've done about 80 miles and then leave the car for a while then restart the engine (turning off the engine and then on again a few mins later still shows a full thank, but waiting until the next morning will give a true reading). Any ideas on what I need to do to fix this?

Cheers,

Rob.

Pop the pump assembly out of the tank (accessed through a plate in the boot) and check the float is free to move.
