URGENT -  STEERING WHEEL PROBLEM
« on: 07 April 2008, 12:15:52 »

A clicking sound like broken plastic in behind the casing.  The steering locked while driving,  It seems to be the bit of broken plastic catching.  When I stopped the car I kept turning the steering wheel right round both ways and it still kept clicking.  I took the casing off and I can see where its coming from but think I need to take the steering wheel off.  I need advise on how to take the steering wheel off.

You may well find it comes off without the need to get a pulley...mine did.  Also remember air bag safety when removing yours (if fitted )

All Omegas have driver airbags, so disconnect battery and leave for 5 mins before doing anything!

I've never tried an Omega's wheel. I know I bent the steering wheel of my Manta trying to get that bugger off.  :-?

God, that's not good though, the steering wheel locking  :o

You should have a cruise stalk fitted to yours now anyway, then get the cruise enabled via VX tech 2 software! Shouldn't cost your more than about £50 and it's all plug & play, just replace the stalk and plug in the extra lead that's tucked away.

Otherwise, i've got a stalk you can have if you want it?
