Unknown error code
« on: 09 April 2008, 18:43:28 »

Evening all
Twice in the past week I have started the car,put it in drive and it promptly stalled. It then wouldn't start on the first go but went after taking the key out and trying again. So put the cheapo tech2 on and it showed
2 unknown errors-P1329,  P1613. I have found the first one,Knock control cylinder 4 maximum spark limit. However I have no idea what it means,is it likely to give up completly and leave me stranded.I shall search but in the meantime I would be gratefull if someone could help. Also I couldn't find what P1613 is.
Cheers Glyn. :)

engine is detecting knocking on cyl 4, even though it is retarded to the limit.

The 1613 is not immobiliser signal

Think TB means no immobilser signal  :y

I seem to remember that the immobiliser can be slow in telling the ecu if a correct code is received.....hence why it can start then stalls as ecu cuts the engine if immobiliser reports wrong/no code.

By removing the key and trying again sounds like its getting the right  code second time round....

Tho ive no idea what the fix is......sorry  :-[

Don't know if this is your problem .. but I had this with the "old beast"

The immobliser chip in the fob can work loose, and move about within the fob. It then does not communicate properly with the corresponding chip in the ignition barrel.

When I had problems with intermitent non-starting I took the fob apart and found the chip loose, a spot of superglue and it all started to work fine again.

Might not be your problem ... but worth a look ???
