Help, need to check Oxygen Sensor 2.0ltr
« on: 10 April 2008, 20:23:35 »

Guys,

Does anyone have a spare known working O2 sensor I could borrow to check mine needs replacing.

The reason I ask to borrow one from someone is because mine only threw up an error code when I changed the exhaust.  I'd like to make doubly sure before I buy a new one.

Also, I've seen the universal 4-wire types on ebay for appx £13.  Lasting for a year minimum, does anyone know if these are ok?  I fitted a universal type to my Rover prior to the Omega and all was well.

You can't fit a universal sensor, as the x20xev sensors are titania, whereas normal universal sensors are zirconia.

You can check that the sensor is working with a multimeter. The voltage between the black wire and ground should fluctuate between zero-ish and 4.5ish V. The sensors has to remain connected while testing. Just punch through the plastic with something sharp while measuring.
