Rusty spark plugs
« on: 05 May 2008, 08:20:11 »

I replaced my cars spark plugs about 2000 miles ago. Recently had a misfire and the stealers diagnosed plug failure on No 2 cylinder. They replaced all plugs, but I noticed the ones they had removed were rusty.

I am not loosing any coolant so presume water is getting in there when it rains. Is the scuttle on the 2.2 a design fault or am I looking at the wrong thing?

Has anybody had the same problem and found a cure?

Thanks

I've had the same problem, it's probably leaking through the lower windscreen seal.

If you feel under the scuttle at the back of the engine, you may find it's damp/wet.

Remove the windscreen wipers, and you can peel off the rubber windscreen seal, put a liberal amount of sealant in the groove of the rubber, and replace.
