2.0 sucking in air?
« on: 13 May 2008, 09:10:07 »

The 2.0 project estate i am collecting tonight hopefully, has been sold has HG failed.

However the symptons they describe don't seam to point to it, they told me the car stalled, then started straight away again. Drove and stalled.

There was suction building in the header tank, no coolant loss.

It sounds like there is a vac leak on a suction pipe someware causing it to stall?

Where are the best places to check for such a leak?

It may not be this but being a 2L I would start with a thorough clean of breather hoses, throttle body and ICV just to eliminate that.

On my 2L the vac pipe that went round the back to the EGR to the rear of the camcover had broken off (it was difficult to see) and caused strange idling.

Not sure about suction in the header tank - you don't think that might just be pressure as normal?
