When I first got an Omega ... some years back .. I was told to open/close/tilt/close the sunroof at least once a month (and to run the aircon for 10 minutes a month) as it keeps the mechansim "clean and free"... I've done this and - touch wood - I've had no problems..

Now it is probably either an "urban myth" , an "old wives tale" or probably just "bo***cks" .. but it costs nowt and takes but a moment ...

:)

Yes you are right Entwood :y;  this is what I was originally instructed to do by the Vx manual with my original 3.0 Elite, and have done it ever since.  Like you I have (touch wood!) never had a a/c - c/c problem. These systems, like all other parts on any machine need regular 'turning over' to keep parts lubricated, free, and in running condition. ;)

might just be a grubby switch.

My s/r was mucking around, not opening or closeing at all.. alls I did was hold the switch up hard and spin it back and forth... made a lovely scratchy noise  :-?

I know thats probably a really bad thing to do regularly to what is probably a fairly delicate switch assembly but it must have scraped and corrosion/dirt off coz it works perfectly now.

Like I said it's not the sorta abuse that switches like that are made for but if you dont have time to dismantle & clean it properly at the moment you might want to give that a go, takes 20 seconds and if it cures the problem (or makes it worse lol) then you'll know its a switch problem.
