Exhaust manifold in my Y22XE has a crack. New (not GM genuine) is for ca £80-90 and I am not sure if it won’t crack within next few months. I was looking for a second hand but most sellers want ca £50 plus postage (£15). Few months ago I bought a manifold from and for my X20XEV which cost my £20 from local scrapyard and I think I will have to look for similar thing but as you know X20 have two air holes which in Y22 are blinded.
I will have to find a fix quickly, thus I started to think about welding cracked one. Cast iron is not an easy stuff and need to be preheated. Does anyone know how much does it cost and where I can do it around London?
Second thought was to buy X20XEV and to blind both air holes. Easiest way would be to make a thread inside and screw bolt in it but I don’t know if I will find tool big enough to do it. Second is to fill it with brass, but again this might be expensive.
Do you have any hints on how to fix X20XEV manifold to fit into Y22XEV engine, or maybe some of you guys have one for sale.

Why not get one with the air injection pipe attached and modify the steel air injection pipe (you could blank this off creating two stubs).

i fitted a manifold from here http://www.vauxcentre.co.uk/ to my 2.2 about six months ago it was'nt a genuine one but have had no prblems in 9000 miles

I was looking for a manifold – found 3, all have cracks. Found one on e-bay. Suspiciously photo was made from the side and guy told that there is a crack but it’s OK like isn’t one.
I found special high temperature glue (up to 1008 C) that is designed to seal such things. They also have “liquid steel” which is becoming really hard (we have made a ball and tried it with hammer – no success), and many other cool things (glue to seal most holes in the engine, - for aluminum and cast iron, petrol and oil resistant glue to fix oil sumps and petrol tanks etc).
I will try this and if any good will have one extra for sale.
