How easy or difficult is it to replace the pipes on the air con the joint where the pipe runs down the left hand side of the engine (your right as you look at the engine from the front of the car) has come apart if I replace this is there any way of checking if there is a leak before  having it re gassed its been like this since i got it it would be nice to have air con.

Are you referring to the joint above the 2-4-6 cam cover...?

Yes next to the oil filler cap it looks to be broken as it wont join together

You can re-build the joint you have.

They are a series of O rings, plastic clips and circlips which when assembled correctly mean that you can simply clip the two pieces together.
