Low Idle & Kickdown problem
« on: 10 June 2008, 09:26:23 »

Hi all,
I've just recently changed exhaust (full GM), can belt (full Gates kit and used locking kit) and cleaned the breathers on my 99 2.5 V6 auto mini-facelift.
The car now idles at about 425 rpm (not erratic) and the kickdown now only changes down 1 gear (lower speeds) or not at all (higher speeds). I'm sure it used to kickdown 2 gears before sometimes.
Other than that its fine.
Can anyone suggest what I may have done wrong?
Thanks,
Michael.

Idel sounds fine if the aircon is off (given the accuracy of the rev counter).

Check the throttle cable does not have excessive slack in it at the throttle body as this affects the kick down switch.

Removed slack in the cable. Now works great.
Thanks Mark.
