Plemun cleaning and dismantling
« on: 18 June 2008, 11:27:32 »

Gonna strip down the plenum this weekend and do the breathers properly. couple of questions about the throttle body?

In the photo above (item '1' white arrow) is this the throttle sensor?, can it be cleaned without any damage to the electrical parts of it?
Also (item'2''black arrow) Is there a gasket that fits in between these two parts?.
Dont want to start a project without all the info/parts.
Thanks in advance
Mark

1 is the motor which drives it.

2 O rings AFAIR

When you clean keep the motor to the top, use a thin oil once clean on the spindle

Thanks Martin, just got the 'O' rings from vx although it took em half an hour to find them on thier computer. They gave me the one's for the short plenum, they recon that they are the same as mine (extended plenum). we shall see.

Have you seen the maintenance guide Mark?  I think it has the part numbers for all the seals you need.  Remember you need lots of carb cleaner.

On both the cars I have done this on I failed to disconnect the throttle cable ball and socket connection.  I ended up leaving the TB on the car (connected by the throttle cable ) and cleaned it there.

Pretty sure they are all the same - only two TB designs on the V6 AFAIK.
