Sluggish and misfiring
« on: 21 June 2008, 21:13:45 »

Hi all.....
Every now and then the car gets very sluggish, smelly and it fells lke it's not firing on all plugs. When I check the plugs the one at the back of the block (nearest the windscreen) is dripping with what seems to be oil, I dry it off and away I go for another while.
Has anyone any idea what might be causing this please?

Cheers.

Yeap agree with what the others have put :y

Pull your plug lead off the spark plug again and have a look down at the spark plug, if there is oil in there mate your Cam Cover Gaskets need replacing... The main reason for this common problem is not having regular oil changes, and the breathers being blocked... There is a "How Too" in the maintaince section to help..
Don't worry to much though as to do it yourself parts should cost around £70 to do the job :y
But get it done sooner rather than later as after time the oil will breakdown your plug leads too...

hi   :)

this may be ignorant, but i've had my mig for 2 years now & i've been reading & thinking about cleaning the breathers, does putting any of the fuel/jet cleaner liquids in the petrol dissolve anything, or is it just the physical get to them & clean the crap out ?

Physically take the crap out I'm afraid.  Never believed in these petrol additives - I personally believe they don't do anything at all.
