Sat Nav on Elite
« on: 21 June 2008, 07:24:00 »

Hi all
ive just aquired a 2002 3.2 elite from the auction couple of probs im having sorted but wanted to know if there are any updates for the sat nav  software as  it does not say on the readout ETA to destination i have a little Garmin sat nav £99 that i used on the old car and that tells you ETA at destination and that uses the similar software NAVTEQ i would have thought it was a basic requirment i have the original CD with the car its 2003 software but i should think its only got the map data on it

Thanks
Robert

Have a lookie on e-bay... there's loads of later 2007 map discs on there....  make sure that they have post code support on them and beware of some sellers though, they appear to up the bids at the last minute..

I believe that you're  in need of the V4.9 upgrade for your 2002 system... not sure if it'll give you the ETA data however :-/

For the Siemens NCDC ones, the software updates are on the map CDs, hence essential you get correct map CD.  These can be bought from Navteq or from Vauxhall.

Can't remember if it has ETA, sure it must have as the earlier Carin did (buried away in a menu).

Bear in mind its a 8yr old satnav system, not a 4yr old like your Garmin, so may not have all the latest features.  Saying that, built in are generally more accurate and reliable than portable types, esp in built up areas etc

It will give you journey time to destination
No postcode search with the Siemens system (unfortunately)
Look on Ebay for map discs, German Ebay are usually cheaper but find someone who takes Paypal, its a pain sending money abroad.

You press the Info button on the NCDC panel to get current location, miles and time to destination
