Crank pulley bolt
« on: 23 June 2008, 19:00:37 »

Hi, about to have to wind my engine over by hand, V6 btw. Which way is the recommended way of turning them. I do recall that certain bolts where high centrifugal forces are involved being a left hand thread to avoid coming loose. Is this likely to be one of them, meaning i would need to rotate engine anti clockwise? (looking from front of vehicle). Many thanks

As you stand in front of the car you turn it clockwise, the same way as to tighten the bolt as its NOT a L/H thread :)

Clockwise, turning it anticlockwise risks the cam timing timing jumping as the tensioner will back the tension off!
