2.5 TD Flexi Plate (Flywheel)
« on: 28 June 2008, 10:20:03 »

Hi to all

Does anyone out there know if the drive flexi plate (Flywheel) can be fitted incorrectly.
Ill tell you why I have this 2.5Td and I am trying to check the timing (Because of bad satarting) I have checked every thing else, now Autodata says to Turn engine to Cyl No.1 at TDC and insert locking pin to Flexi plate, the locking hole is not at No.1 TDC it is elswhere it is at another position

Please Can anyone advise me on this subject

Regards and thanks in advance

that sounds right then the flex plate is only held on by three bolts so equal spacing, they are accessed thru the bung at the bottom of the bellhousing or thru starter motor hole may be worth you undoing them and lining it up properly so you can check your timing but i bet it aint far out if at all, take it you have checked glow plugs and filters etc?

I remember that when we did TB's timing, there appears to be other places that the locking pin will go in which are a mile out.

The correct position was a swine to find and fit.....took a lot of buggering about!
