AC Evaporator

After spending over an hour crawling over my AC pipework and already having fitted a new condensor and valves me and the AC guy managed to find green dye dripping from one of the lambda sensor cables where is disappears up over the auto gearbox. The AC man reckons it must be a leaking evaporator which is up inside the dash. Does this seem reasonable and is replacing it a tricky job? Is it really a dash out job?

Well, the condensate drain pipes exit just above the gearbox so it sounds plausible that a leak from the evaporator would result in dye ending up there.  :(

I think you can get at the side of the evaporator if you remove the glove box, heater ducting and fan motor. Not sure it it can be slid out after disconnection or if you need to pull the whole dash out.  :-/

You can get it out  with the glove box, heater motor and duct etc removed.....the hardest bit is removing the bolt for the right angled pipes that connect between it and the bulk head.

How many hours do you reckon to take the old one and fit a new (2nd hand) one?
