EML / FAULT CODES / HEAD UNIT / C-LOCKING ISSUES
« on: 17 July 2008, 15:07:16 »

Hi guys.

I have a few things to sort out on a 'Y' plate 2.6 Omega Estate. I can't be more specific than that, because i don't know anything about Omegas and its not my car!

Any help and ideas would be gratefully recieved....

FAULT CODES - EML LIGHT ON

Having trawled through the forum, i called up the fault codes using the brake/accelerator pedal check. I've got faults 0173 & 0170 which i believe are relating to the lambdas/cats. I've been underneath and checked for damage, loose connection, wiring (and whether they are there or not, which happily, they are!) etc and visually everything seems to be fine.
I know that on BMWs, when a fault is picked up, it is stored until the fault codes have been reset, whether the fault is still currently present or not. Is this the same on the Omega? If so, is there any way that i can manually reset the fault memory, or erase the fault codes, without having to pay Mr Vauxhall a heeooowdge amount of dosh? What i'm trying to get at, is whether the fault is even there at the moment, just because the EML light is on, or whether its just telling me that it had a fault once?
Any further ideas on where to go next would be gratefully recieved.

CENTRAL LOCKING

The boot lock does not want to operate remotely. It will still operate with the key, although it is a little ropey. I'm presuming door lock motor? Has anyone any experience of this problem, and what resolved it?

STANDARD VAUXHALL FIT STEREO

The car is fitted with a PHILLIPS CCR2006 head unit which has an integral 4 disk CD autochanger. I cannot for the life of me get the unit to accept the magazine. Any ideas?

Think that's all for now, but i'm sure more things will be cropping up in the not so distant future.

Thanks in advance.

 :)  J.

wait for others to confirm before acting on any of this, but the codes "may" be related to the dreaded pre cat issue,  :-/for which pre face lift v engines are renound. That being the case, from what i have read on here, there is a smaller cat  prior to the big one which has a habitt of  collapsing, i "think" it is of no real importance re emmisions/mot, just annoying with the light on and disguising any other more impotant codes that may come up.

the boot release is a strange beast if you ask me, but you have to hold the dash button in for two or three secs, for safety, and it will not work with the key in the ignition/engine on/or something like that. myn will not seem to work at all with the bonnet up!!!! bit annoying trying to fit parts in the engine bay, that you have just bought and are in the boot.  ::)seems to work with the key at all times iirc, but sometimes you have to hold the button down for longer for some reason. :-/

no idea re stereo, maybe post in the ice section, hope helps and welcome to oof :y

Try replacing the CTS for those codes as I suspect the ecu thinks the car is cold hence running the start up program constantly.
EML will extinguish when problem(s) are resolved.
