Hi Guys

Could anyone recommend a detachable towbar for the facelift estate

with the minimum of bumper cut / visability.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Boiler Man

I have a Brink 239100 detachable towbar. Abolutely top quality and unobtrusive when detached.

It's ISO and I think fits all estates including facelift. Quite expensive, but I got mine from ebay.

I have a mini-facelift, and there was already two slots in the lower rear edge of the rear bumper. I just had to saw through the two holding bits, and then the bit between the slots just bends up gently to clear the top of the towbar. I guess that's what they are there for.

Mine didn't come with a lock-insert and keys, so I bought them separately from Brink.

I just looked at the Brink.co.uk site but it's under construction, so I can't see if you can get an instruction book. I'll see if I can find mine for you.

If you're interested there's an Omega (pre-face lift) estate in a local scrap yard (Pimhole area) with a swan neck towbar still fitted. It's not detachable, like a Brinkmatic etc but the swan neck bit is only held with 2 bolts.

Mine came already fitted with a Brink towbar.

Have compared to others, and reckon it's the Bees Knees.

I had a Westfalia removable bar on my saloon and it was great. Invisible when fitted, very little bumper cutting required and easy to attach / detach. I'm sure they do an estate variant.

Wish I had a detachable tow ball on my estate, its a month since I walked into it whilst tying some timber onto the roof rack.  
The bruising has gone but its still sore to touch.
