What is this for?

Can anyone tell me what the two things here are for? (more so the black one) They are inside each front arch and wires go to the swivel hub assembly. I'm quite sure one is the ABS sensor but can't think what the other is for.

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

The black one is the brake pad wear sensor connector  :y

Thanks. That's ok. Now my problem is they have been cut off!
Are they easy to get hold of and refit? Where on my calipers would the sensors go?

They fit onto the brake disk pads via a fitting fit. Cheapo and clone brake pads do not have the facility for pad wear detection.
I would only ever use the recommended pads as the power of this car deserves respect.

The low brake pad warning cable fits into the centre of a spring fixed to the brake pad, its a simple push fit arrangement.

B011ocks! OEM GM pads don't have wear indictor wires burried into them either, but the wear indicators clip to the anti-rattle spring that all pads, whether they're pattern or not have fited.

They cost about £11 plus postage for 2.
I bought a couple from LMF vauxhall, quite good for vauxhall bits.

Anyone know where I can get the pads with sensors?

Ive had a look on ebay and can only find normal non-sensor pads

Right, so no chance of me getting any new wear indicator pads then.

So really I don't even need to get some sensors if they'll be of no use without compatible pads. I'll stick with my twisted together wires then!

 :-? If you buy pads from either Vauxhall or pattern, you then buy the sensing wires seperately. The wires have a clip at one end that clips to the antirattle spring of the pads, OEM or pattern, the other end has a plug that goes to the socket shown in the original picture.
[size=16]No pads for Omegas come with wires burried in them[/size]

LOL Andy. Are the Omega wear sensors as fragile as the Senator ones? It's standard procedure to join them together on the Senny to put the warning light out. Apart from anything else, it's not difficult to check whether your front pads are worn!

Yes Alex, they're soooo similar they're exactly the same thing!  ;) I'm sure that the front discs, of the later Omegas, are the same as a 24V Senator.

A is the sensor probe that pushes into the anti rattle spring marked on the pad below:
