1998 OMEGA HEADLINING
« on: 16 August 2008, 12:47:10 »

My Omega has a gash in the headlining that I would like to sort out either by repairing or replacing it.

Has any forum member been through this exercise and can give any advice?

What are we looking at in time, expense etc?

I removed one from a Cavalier many moons ago. Fortunately that was a Hatchback & did not have a sunroof. It was mostly held in place by the various pillar trims, door aperture seals & a trim piece aceoss the rear roof bow. More attention is needed to avoid breaking lugs of the trims as they are removed. A-pillars were push fit, as was the roof bow one. Rest were screw secured. If you have a sunroof there is an internal trim which will hold this to the sunroof unit.
If your car is an estate It will be easier to do by way of getting the lining in and out of the tail gate. Saloons may need one of both seats removing AFAIK just to avoid creasing the new lining as you get it into the car, but will also give you more room once in the car to manouver about. I followed a hayned guide for that. I do know care is needed when refittting the door seals, as the lining is quite easily creased where they meet.
Hope this is of some use, Jez
