oil pressure light flickering help !!
« on: 10 August 2008, 20:51:10 »

hi there
just bought a w reg 2 ltr auto omega. got a few probs already...
oil pressure light flickering, was fine on test drive. drove it 80 mile home and it never missed a beat but light flickered on and off, changed oil when i got home and took it for a spin, still flickered. is it knackered ? sorry for the big question on my 1st post but i feel sick at the moment. guy i bought it off seemed genuine, he just spent loads on a new cat and front pipes so dont think he was trying to rip me off.
any help would be appreciated
thanks

dont be fooled just yet, this is more like a sensor issue/cable from sensor to ecu.
i had the same light flicker at me in my 3.0mv6-got very concerned, changed oil and filter, flushed the engine out, and changed the pressure sensor - still flickering, got a garage to run a new piece of wire from the sensor to the ecu - fixed.

may not be your problem but check first mate  :y

and as mark states above how does the engine run/sound - any rattles, knocking?

well
my problem seems to be cured, ive been to work and back today about 40 mile and been driving about short trips and the oil light has not flickered on once. ;D
also had the dreaded water in the nearside footwells, scuttle panel off and a few pints of stinking water later its all gone, it was running all thru the pollen filter.
scrubbed all the seats/carpets and sucked it all up with the vax at work and its lovely and clean and dry.......ish.. :y
so all in all its being a scary few days of omega ownership to start off with but hopefully will be a lot happier from now on....
thanks for all the help
