2001 2.2 auto petrol   i have changed air flowmeter and erg valve,way better than before but has this start up problem for approx15/20 secs then ok.

Got any fault codes?

Could be the cam sensor  :-/

Why did you change other bits?  Was fault there before you changed those parts?


Cam sensor sounds favourite, but get codes read before you replace parts.

I have chatted to vauxnut a few times, sometimes I park up close to where he works and he comes over for a chat.....

I dont think its cam sensor, as he doesnt get starting probs (ie prolonged cranking) or g/b going into limp mode.

Also when mine had a cam sensor issue....it ran on 4 when it eventually started....

Tho willing to read any codes that maybe stored if he wishes

possible oil in plug recess due to cam cover leaking, the reason I say this is mine done exactly the same due to oil, causing the rubber shrouds over plugs to rot or perish allowing spark to track to cylinder head and cause miss fire for approx 15-20 secs, mine would then be fine allday untill engine left to cool, then would miss fire again.

thanks for all poss problems,the saggy plug caps sounds a good poss,other parts replaced as were def faulty.thanks again for your help.
