Steering alignment
« on: 15 September 2008, 20:04:24 »

Hello,
I have recently become an Omega owner ('01 MV6 auto) and am very pleased with the car. However it does have a strange fault with the steering.Under light braking the car pulls to the right, then to the left.Under normal driving, and heavy braking all is fine, but light braking causes this "shimmy". I have watched while a friend drove the car - the N/S wheel has a pronounced "kick" as the brakes are applied.I have changed the struts and springs, and the lower wishbones and bushes.I also had the brakes checked for balance at the local MOT station. The car is running standard 17"alloys with 235 profile tyres and the tracking has been checked several times.Has anyone had this problem before?
Apologies for my first post being a bit of an epic but this fault is cracking me up. :-*
Phil.

Check the steering idler arm could be that the bush is worn. Check the discs for warpeness or the piston's in the calipe's are sticking. What are the pads like for wear?
